Homemade Pakistani Spiced Chai

Everyone who works here at Unique Batik has a soft spot for a good cup of chai tea.  I should correct myself before I go any further, “spiced chai” or “masala chai” not “chai tea”.  I never knew this before my research, but “chai” is the actual word for tea in India and Pakistan.  So when we say “chai tea” here we are actually saying “tea tea”, which might be fun to say but sounds really stupid.  Chai is a traditional drink in both India and Pakistan because these two countries actually used to be one.

When Unique Batik got to travel to Pakistan two summers ago in an initiative to create relationships between Pakistani artisans and Fair Trade companies in the U.S. the chai was amazing!  Here is a recipe that is simple and as close to an authentic cup of Pakistani chai.  Let us know what you think!
